No one cares about your health, especially your mental health, like you do. If you aren’t careful, you’ll waste a lot of time running on empty until you crash, or you’ll be waiting forever for someone to give you some TLC. We must realize that the care we need comes from home within ourselves.
Self-care days are any day that you take for you. Whether you enjoy spas, massages, facials, reading, taking a hike, or shopping, it’s considered a self-care day if it is a day dedicated for you to take some time off from day to day life and do things that make you feel good. Life can be stressful in general then when you add in the unexpected stresses, life can get overwhelming. You have to destress before you overload!
When you take the time to yourself for self-care, you give yourself a healthy way to deal with stress. You’ll also build a better relationship with yourself by understanding when you need to take a break. You’re learning to listen to your body and give it what it needs. You can’t expect someone else to know what you need if you don’t know yourself! It also brings you a new level of self-confidence. When you do things you like, you simply feel better. Some of us will wait our whole lives for someone to do for us what we should have done for ourselves a long time ago. Take yourself out to that restaurant you like! Go see that new movie! It’s empowering to feel confident enough to ask for that table for one or that solo movie ticket. The best part about a self-care day is that you only need yourself!
